It is the only religion without which no time neither place might be adjusted, improved or put in order. It, therefore, came with a general law suitable for all times and places and for the whole community. Thereupon, the Muslims faith becomes stronger and sounder.*2- Being a shield for Muslims.Knowing virtues of Islam makes as Muslim immune from misconceptions that are aroused about Islam. Those interests include:1-** Fundamentals.2-** Necessities.3-** Improvements.I - FundamentalsFundamentals are matters without which life will be vanished. They are: (1) Religion, (2) self, (3) offspring and honor, (4) reasons, and (5) Finances.And Islam, without a doubt, has not only maintained of all those fundamentals without exception but also refused any kind of violation. Religion.Religion means a set of ordained systems that includes beliefs, forms of worship, regulations and precepts laid down by Allah, who has maintained and guarded religion by means of sending Messengers, sending down revelations, making faith a must, and then, calling on others.He, the great and Almighty, has also enacted Jihad, ordinances and punishments to safeguard the Religion.Self:Allah, the Great and Almighty, has taken care of the human self. He has created every soul with sound disposition that leads to faith and inspired it with knowledge of sine and piety: blessed shall be the man who has kept it pure, and ruined he that has corrupted it. in addition to that, He has made many laws that protect the human self from all kinds of others’ transgression among them are blood money and penalty.Offspring.Allah, the Great and Almighty, has made allowance for marriage, progeny, repute and honor.Thus, He has ordered His servants to marry and urge them to choose good wives as well as to educate their children according to the teachings of Islam in all walks of life.At the same time, He has laid down some ordinances that keep the family in safe life. Among those ordinances are: punishments for slander,* fornication and adultery.Reason.Allah has not only given the right to reason to take its role but also ordered human beings to use their brains and to think of the universe and creation.He has also guarded the human intellectual power from corruption by (1) forbidding taking drugs, wine and others spoiling intoxicants and (2) imposing some punishments in this concern.Finance.Allah has made lawful to earn money to increase and to invest one’s wealth, but through lawful means such as trade, agriculture, industry and so on. He has also laid down: (1) the punishment for theft by the loss of a hand to guard others’ wealth, (2) banning of usury and interest and cheating, and (3) imposing interdiction on the feebleminded.II - Necessities.Necessity means something needed to avoid constraint and hardship so Islam has come with viable and applicable teachings. For example, Muslims are advised to shorten and combine his Salāh (prayers) when on a journey. One is also exempt from the obligation of fasting as long as one is on a journey.III - Improvements:Improvements are complementary deeds that give one’s action its completeness, exactness and perfection.The Holy Prophet (Blessing and peace of Allah be upon him)* was sent to complete and perfect good morals in all walks of life.That is why Islam calls on Muslims: (1) wear their best cloth at every time and place of worship, (2) to give more charity, out of their won free will and (3) to observe voluntary fasts.

This sentence makes a distinction between a Muslim and a non-Muslim. The Concept of Faith (Iman)Some people may think that man becomes a Muslim when he confesses belief in the Oneness of the True God and in Muhammad as His Last Messenger. But this is far from the full meaning of Faith. The full meaning of Faith in Islam is not, by any means, something nominal or mere formality. Faith in Islam is a state of happiness acquired by virtue of positive action and constructive conceptions as well as dynamic and effective measures.The Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Muhammad define these required measures and establish the standards, which build up a meaningful Faith. According to Islam, true Faith has a decisive effect on the spiritual and material lot of man, and also on his personal and social behaviour as well as his political conduct and financial life.Three qualities are the sign of sound faith, and he who acquires them can really feel the sweet taste of Faith. They are (1) to love God and His Messenger most of all, (2) to love his fellow man for - the sake of God alone, and (3) to resent and resist returning to disbelief as much as he does being cast into fire. The Makkan and Madinan Revelations.***The Qur’an was revealed in sections to Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) from the beginning of his prophethood until shortly before his death. Thus, the Qur’an came down continuously over a period of twenty-three years.Many sections of the Qur’an were gradually revealed to solve the problems which existed among the Muslim communities in both Makkah and Madinah. Since the problems and needs of Makkah were different from those of Madinah, the revelations of Makkah and Madinah have special characteristics of their own.It is important to know the difference between the revelations of Makkah and Madinah if the Qur’an itself is to be clearly understood. Because of the great importance of the Qur’an to Islam, Muslim scholars from the time of the Sahabah (Prophet’s Companions) have devoted much time and effort in this area of study.*

This includes verses* which were revealed during the battles, as well as those revealed in Makkah and Mina during and after the Farewell Hajj. Thus, the audience at this stage was quite willing to listen attentively to longer verses teaching the vital laws of Islam.

Order of the Suras:Although all of the Makkan verses were revealed during the same period, they were neither memorized not written in the same order in which they were revealed. Verses from various Suras were revealed at once. Whenever single verses were revealed, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would tell his scribes to write it in the Sura to which it belonged. If a new Sura was revealed, he would recite the Sura in the order it was to be recorded. Once the Madinan verses and Suras began to be revealed, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would tell his companions to place them before or after certain Makkan Suras and verses. Thus, when the revelation of the Qur’an was complete, Makkan verses could be found within Madinan Suras and Madinan verses within Makkan Suras. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) reordered the verses and Suras of the Qur’an according to Allah’s command. The reason for that was that the verses were revealed according to the needs of a developing community, whereas the order for reading purposes needed to be varied so as not to make the Qur’an seem one-sided in its presentation. The mixture of verses and Suras from the two stages gives the reader a more balanced picture of the message of Islam.

THE IMPORTANCEThere are a number of reasons why a distinction needs to be made between Makkan and Madinan Suras and verses. Fiqh (Islamic Law)The various laws of Islam were revealed over a period of twenty-three years. Some laws canceled earlier laws and other laws were revealed bit by bit. Thus, it is necessary to know at which point in time the various laws were revealed in order to apply them properly.* The laws of the latter Madinan period sometimes took the place of* earlier laws.* For example, alcohol was made forbidden in gradual stages. The first law concerning alcohol was simply a warning of its dangers. Allah said:{And, when they ask you about Khamr (alcohol) and Maysir (gambling), tell them that they contain some benefit for people, but the sin is greater than the benefit.}********* [Sura 2: Verse 219]The second law which was revealed warned Muslims away from Salah when they were intoxicated (drunk) Allah said:{Do not come to Salah when you are intoxicated (drunk), until you know what you are saying.}************* [4:43]*The third law, however, was a complete prohibition of even coming near any form of alcohol. Allah said:{Verily, alcohol, gambling and sacrificial altars are filth, as a result of Satan’s work, so stay away from them.}********** [5:9]If one was unaware* of the order in which these verses were revealed, he or she may mistakenly think that drinking alcohol is allowed as long as one doesn’t get drunk and come to Salah. Or, it might be thought that benefitting from the sale of alcohol is permitted.
