It is strange that the instituting Arabic grammar schools did not start in the Arabia, but in the rival cities of Kufa and Basra, in Iraq. That was analogous to the rise of the Greek grammar which did not start in Athens, but in the city of Alexandria; because the people there, who came from diverse places, needed it. And so was the Arabic grammar which was not necessary to the nomads, but was a real necessity to the Iraqis who spoke Persian, Syriac in addition to Arabic. The Grammar School of Basra, that was instituted by Abu Al'aswad Aldo'ali, was the first Arabic Grammar School, albeit it needed almost a century to develop. But the Grammar School of Kufa had been constituted by the end of the eighth century AD.

It shouldn't be inferred of what I have just said that Arabic Literature did not start until the preach for Islam began. It is on the contrary, i.e. the Arabic speaking tribes during the days of Al-gahiliyah "pre-Islamic era" have had an outstanding literature especially at poetry. In fact, Islam rooted Arabic and has granted it its international importance. Therefore, if Arabic had not been Islam sacred tool, it would have been a tribal dialect and not to be one of a few global languages, either
