- المفردة رقم (36): كلمة "larger" الإنكليزية تعني "الأكبر" وليس "الأوسع". ومثل هذا الخطأ يقع فيه عادة من تعلــّم اللغة الفرنسية قبل اللغة الإنكليزية، ذلك أن كلمة "large" الفرنسية تعني "واسع" في حين ان أختها الإنكليزية _أختها من الرضاعة اللغوية فقط_ تعني "كبير"، ولست أدري إن كان الأستاذ قحطان يعرف اللغة الفرنسية أو أنه تعلمها قبل الإنكليزية!!.

- المفردة رقم (51): عندما نسرد مجموعة من العناصر في اللغة العربية فإننا نربطها كلها*بالواو، وهذا أمر من المؤكد أنه لا يخفى على الأستاذ قحطان،*ولكن اللغة الإنكليزية لا تستخدم "الواو" (and) إلا قبل العنصر الأخير، وهو شيء لا تستسيغه لغتنا العربية:

- المفردتان (37) و (55): هناك خلط في ترجمة "thesis" و "dissertation". تمت ترجمة الكلمة الأولى بـ"أطروحة" والثانية بـ"رسالة" في (37) ثم بــ"أطروحة" في (55).

ينبغي على المترجم أن يلتزم بنفس الترجمة لنفس المصطلح في كل ترجمته ولا يغيّر الترجمة فيشوش على القارئ. ثم يجب أن تكون هناك ترجمة واحدة فقط لأيّ مصطلح في مجال علمي واحد.

تحتاج هذه الترجمة (57)*إلى مراجعة لسببين:

(1) في اللغة العربية، ينبغي أن يكون الاسم الذي يأتي بعد "كلا" معرفة وليس نكرة.

(2) ليس هناك ضرورة لترجمة كلمة "both" الانكليزية لأنها، في هذه الحالة، لا تنقص من المعنى شيئا.

هناك ترجمات أخرى عديدة (في الجزأين الأول والثاني) تحتاج إلى مراجعة وإعادة نظر، مثال: 2 - 8 - 9 - 24 - 27 - 45 - 51 - 54 - 59 (كلمة "dorm" الانكليزية كلمة مختصرة "clipped word" لكلمة "dormitory" وتعني "مَبِيت أو سكن جامعي" ولا تعني "قسم" كما وردت في الترجمة) - 63 - 71 - 75. *
