    MUSULMANS EN EUROPE, PERSPECTIVES CITOYENNES

    Projet dirigée par , Stéphane Lathion Dilwar Hussein et Mallory Schneuwly Purdie
    Initiative menée par des chercheurs et divers acteurs sociaux, non-musulmans et musulmans, travaillant dans différents pays européens et soucieux d’enrichir un débat scientifique autour des interrogations soulevée par la présence musulmane en Europe.
    Trois axes :
    1. Attitudes et attentes des autorités face à la présence musulmane dans leur pays – réalité dans les différents contextes européens – Politique de reconnaissance.
    2. Rôle et revendications des associations et organisations musulmanes (cultuelles, culturelles, ethniques…) – Expériences concrètes de participation politique.
    3. Droits et responsabilités individuelles – individualisation du rapport à la foi, pratique collective, délimitation des sphères privées et publiques.
    Objectifs internes au groupe :
    1. Echanger des expériences afin d’apporter des éclairages spécifiques à une même thématique.
    2. Elaborer des outils méthodologiques communs afin d’améliorer les études comparatives des différents contextes européens.

    Trois objectifs :
    1. Enrichir le débat et la réflexion sur la question de l’islam en Europe dans une perspective citoyenne (droits individuels, droits collectifs, participation politique…).
    2. Relier les intérêts, les préoccupations, les interrogations des divers acteurs impliqués (tant musulmans que non-musulmans) afin d’améliorer la communication, la connaissance réciproque et susciter des collaborations concrètes.
    3. Renforcer les lies entre le monde académique, le monde politique, le monde associatif et les initiatives individuelles afin de mieux comprendre les enjeux et les défis d’une coexistence inévitable entre musulmans et non-musulmans dans les sociétés européennes.

    MUSLIMS IN EUROPE, CITIZENSHIPS PERSPECTIVES
    This initiative is driven by researchers and various social actors, Muslims and non-Muslims, working in various European countries with the desire to enrich a scientific debate around the arising questions about the Muslim presence in Europe.
    Three axes :
    1. Attitudes and expectation of the European authorities towards the Muslims presence in their respective countries. This first axe underlines the various realities that the European countries are confronted with and the different forms of recognition that they are developing.

    2. Role and demands of Muslim associations and organizations (religious, cultural, ethnic…). This second axe want to point out concrete experiments of political participation.

    3. Individual rights and responsibilities. This third axe wants to precise on an individual level the relation of the Muslims have with their faith, the dimension of the collective practices and to identify these two aspects in the public and the private sphere.
    Intern objectives of the group :
    1. Share information in order to bring specific lightings on a similar thematic.

    2. Develop methodological tools in common in order to improve comparative studies in the different European contexts.
    Three objectives :
    1. Enrich the debate and the reflexion on the topic of Islam in Europe in a citizen perspective (accent will be put on subject such as individual rights, collective rights or political participation).

    2. Connect the interests, preoccupations and interrogations of the different actors concerned (Muslim as well as non-Muslim ) in order to ameliorate the reciprocal communication and the knowledge and finally help out to develop concrete collaborations.

    3. Reinforce the relationships between the academic, political, associative world and the individual initiatives in order to better understand the challenges and the stakes of an inevitable co-existence between Muslim and non-Muslim in the European societies.
